You have a great heritage! In Hebrews we are told that we are compassed about by a great cloud of witnesses.\u00a0 Here Timothy is told not to forsake His godly heritage.\u00a0 Paul celebrates that he comes from a long line of Godly people.\u00a0\u00a0 Today we must remember that the gospel is a precious gift from an almighty God.\u00a0 That you and I were able to receive salvation through God\u2019s grace alone.\u00a0 The gospel that was paid for on the cross of Jesus Christ some 2000 years ago is the same cross we hold up as the only way and only truth for eternal life.\u00a0 Don\u2019t forsake this awesome redemption that has been given to you through the faithfulness of God and faithful men.\u00a0 People are persecuted for this gospel.\u00a0 People die because they desire to share this gospel.\u00a0 The good news of Jesus Christ is not a casual historical event but the power of God unto salvation!\u00a0 This is why Paul encourages Timothy to hold to the faith that was passed down. \u00a0Paul tells Timothy and us today to stir up the gift God has given us.\u00a0 Why?\u00a0 This heritage will be passed on and we are part of it!\u00a0 How cool is this gospel?!\u00a0 I am part of the family of God which includes Abraham, Isaac and Jacob who are part of my heritage.\u00a0 Mathew, Mark, Luke and John are my brothers in the sharing of this gospel.\u00a0 Paul, Timothy, and Barnabas are my church family from the beginning in Acts.\u00a0 You and I have something bigger than we can comprehend!\u00a0 We must proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ.\u00a0 I am redeemed!<\/p>\n
