Chapter 3 of Acts starts with a healing.\u00a0 Why are there not as many healings today?\u00a0 Some believe that the massive amount of healings in Jesus\u2019 day gave validity to His authority.\u00a0 We do read many times the phrase \u201cthat you may know\u201d.\u00a0 At the beginning of the church it gave validity to the church as Scripture was being formulated by the Holy Spirit.\u00a0 Today some would say we have the authority of God\u2019s Word and therefore we do not need the weakness of signs.\u00a0 Whatever you may believe, God is not limited by time in doing a miracle.\u00a0 God can and does heal for reasons only known by Him and for His glory.\u00a0 We do not control the power, we live in the power of God.\u00a0 We trust God and how He chooses to work and direct.\u00a0 Peter and John had special insight to know who and when to heal.\u00a0 Personally I do not need to see a miracle nor follow a miracle worker, I have been healed from my sins and will follow Jesus who redeemed me and set me free.\u00a0 However, don\u2019t ever forget that miracles are possible, and they do happen.\u00a0 The problem comes when the actions of God become your worship instead of who God is.<\/p>\n
The healing was an opportunity to share Christ.\u00a0 We should take every opportunity to share the death, burial and resurrection of Christ.\u00a0 Verse 19 calls people to repent and be converted.\u00a0 This is the only way to have your sins blotted out, cover by Christ\u2019s work on the cross.\u00a0 Whenever we share Christ, make sure we share why they need Christ.<\/p>\n
We are told at the end of the chapter this is the fulfillment of the covenant with Abraham.\u00a0 Through Abraham shall all the nations be blessed.\u00a0 Christ followed the blood line of Abraham and Christ has now adopted us all in His family through Christ\u2019 blood making us children of Abraham.<\/p>\n
Christianity is not a new religion that started at the time of Christ.\u00a0 Christianity is the fulfillment and continuation of the oldest and only religion that brings redemption.\u00a0 The New Testament is not a doing away of the Old Testament but a fulfilling and continuation of God\u2019s plan.<\/p>\n
