{"id":1154,"date":"2014-02-17T12:08:34","date_gmt":"2014-02-17T18:08:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mbcnewhaven.com\/wp\/?p=1154"},"modified":"2014-02-17T12:08:34","modified_gmt":"2014-02-17T18:08:34","slug":"acts-chapter-five","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mbcnewhaven.com\/?p=1154","title":{"rendered":"Acts Chapter Five"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Chapter 5 is a wakeup call to the seriousness of God.\u00a0 God does not take the gospel lightly, He sent His Son Jesus Christ to die for us.\u00a0 God does not take living out the gospel lightly.\u00a0 There is a lie told to the Holy Spirit.\u00a0 Ananias and Sapphira made a vow to God.\u00a0 <!--more-->Deuteronomy 23:21 \u201cWhen thou shalt vow a vow unto the LORD thy God, thou shalt not slack to pay it: for the LORD thy God will surely require it of thee; and it would be sin in thee.\u00a0\u00a0 <sup>22<\/sup>But if thou shalt forbear to vow, it shall be no sin in thee.\u00a0\u00a0 <sup>23<\/sup>That which is gone out of thy lips thou shalt keep and perform; even a freewill offering, according as thou hast vowed unto the LORD thy God, which thou hast promised with thy mouth.\u201d\u00a0 Let this thought sink in to our hearts and minds, this is not a game, nor some factious experiment to God.\u00a0 Christianity is very real, serious and eternal.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The second half of the chapter we find the Apostles being persecuted again.\u00a0 Persecution to the church is as normal as the sun coming up in the east. This is a paraphrased quote from a church pastor in a persecuted country.\u00a0 He went on to say something like this; \u201cdon\u2019t give up in freedom what we will not give up in persecution.\u201d\u00a0 It is time for the church to regain its voice.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The apostles filled Jerusalem with their doctrine.\u00a0 Verse 28.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The apostles stood on the position of believing God rather than man.\u00a0 Verse 29<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The apostle preached Jesus in persecution, the message did not change.\u00a0 Verses 30-31<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I love Gamaliel&#8217;s advice. It is really good advice.\u00a0 They had others teach differently and when their leader died the groups disbanded.\u00a0 The one thing Gamaliel forgot was, JESUS IS ALIVE!\u00a0 Read in verses 38 and 39, if it is of God you cannot stop it.\u00a0 Okay let\u2019s see, Jesus died approximately 2000 years ago, I think it was a work of God.\u00a0 The Bible is the best seller every single year.\u00a0 The church continues to grow and win souls.\u00a0 Gamaliel, it is a work of God.\u00a0 Church, this is a work of God.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The apostles took their beating in verse 40 and kept on preaching.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The apostles where humbled and rejoice to be counted worthy to suffer for the gospel.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We need the church to be the church in these days of falsehood.\u00a0 Church, we need to not lose sight to the seriousness that the world needs salvation found only in Jesus.\u00a0 Do you believe the message?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Wow what power!\u00a0 Praying God gives us this revival found in the gospel of Jesus.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"excerpt","protected":false},"author":1167,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"episode_type":"","audio_file":"","cover_image":"","cover_image_id":"","duration":"","filesize":"","date_recorded":"","explicit":"","block":"","itunes_episode_number":"","itunes_title":"","itunes_season_number":"","itunes_episode_type":"","filesize_raw":"","_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":"","_links_to":"","_links_to_target":""},"categories":[23],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-1154","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-bible-reading"],"jetpack_featured_media_url":"","jetpack_sharing_enabled":true,"jetpack_likes_enabled":true,"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/mbcnewhaven.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1154","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/mbcnewhaven.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/mbcnewhaven.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mbcnewhaven.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1167"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mbcnewhaven.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=1154"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/mbcnewhaven.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1154\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":1155,"href":"https:\/\/mbcnewhaven.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1154\/revisions\/1155"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/mbcnewhaven.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=1154"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mbcnewhaven.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=1154"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mbcnewhaven.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=1154"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
