Paul continues his journey to encourage the church in the work of Christ.\u00a0 We need to take note in verse 7 where they met on the first day of the week and broke bread; they had the Lord\u2019s Supper.\u00a0 This is where we get the transition to meet on Sunday and not Saturday.\u00a0 The early church started to meet on Sunday to celebrate the resurrection of Christ as well as to separate them from the Jewish service on Sunday.\u00a0 Besides that, they were busy on the Sabbath soul winning during the Jewish service.\u00a0 Talk about not being politically correct.\u00a0 They also did not have a traditional or contemporary service, they had an all-day service!\u00a0 And as it is today someone fell asleep but this poor young man was sitting in the window and fell out of the window.\u00a0 To make matters worse he died when he hit the ground.\u00a0 Don\u2019t worry, Paul did heal this man and caused great excitement in the church.\u00a0 What do you think of having an all-day service?\u00a0 I know we are too busy for the things of God, oh I didn\u2019t mean that the way you just took it.\u00a0 Just maybe if we stayed around until God showed up we would be blessed and excited.<\/p>\n
Paul gives a farewell speech to the church.\u00a0 In Paul\u2019s speech he reaffirms the gospel and the call of God on his life.\u00a0 Paul gives a warning that wolves, which look and behave like sheep will come into the church.\u00a0 These wolves will come in teaching false doctrine to get the disciples to fall away from Christ.\u00a0 They will teach things that sound good to move our focus off Christ.\u00a0 We could name a few teachings that have and are being promoted in the church today by wolves.\u00a0 Paul encourages the overseer to beware of this type of teaching and to warn the flock.\u00a0 This is when the flock usually gets mad at the Pastor\/overseer.\u00a0 They are mad because they like the doctrines taught by the wolves because they are entertaining to the flesh and enjoyable to all.\u00a0 I want to encourage you to make sure how you live is according to God\u2019s Word.\u00a0 Let\u2019s have a zeal together for truth and all of God\u2019s truth.<\/p>\n
