The biblical principle and clear teaching is a man and women should not get a divorce.\u00a0 The Bible clearly states they become one flesh, joined to one another.\u00a0 \u201cLet no man put asunder\u201d.<\/p>\n
Secondly, divorce was permitted because of sinful man and their hard hearts.\u00a0 This was not the way God planned it to be, but we live among sinful people.\u00a0 All divorces happen because of both parties, but many divorces cannot be stopped because of one spouse or the other.\u00a0 We cannot do anything about the disobedient determination of a spouse.\u00a0 Sin creeps into marriages and Satan loves to see them destroyed.\u00a0 The scripture is clear, divorce is not God\u2019s intent but it was permitted.\u00a0 The saying from Christ was so direct that they concluded maybe we should not marry.\u00a0 God then states it is not that easy to be alone.<\/p>\n
Let me share biblical thoughts on marriage:<\/p>\n
You should only marry someone who is a Christian; do not be unequally yoked together. Marry a Christian that believes the Bible as you do.\u00a0 May I add, date if you choose, only those who are Christian.<\/p>\n
Marry with the purpose of a lifetime covenant, not a contract.\u00a0 A covenant attitude states; no matter what the other one does I will be determined before God to make it work.<\/p>\n
Make the marriage biblical, an Ephesians 5 home.\u00a0 Be a church member together and serve Christ together.<\/p>\n
What if it is not that way?\u00a0 Love the spouse to Jesus, you live that way.<\/p>\n
What if I am divorced?\u00a0 Make sure you sought forgiveness and you do not simply blame the other person.\u00a0 You may say, why should I ask forgiveness?\u00a0 You broke your covenant before God.\u00a0 You should feel sorry for that alone.\u00a0 There are always consequences but now live your life the best you can for God\u2019s glory.<\/p>\n
Can I remarry?\u00a0 My view changes on this, as so does many others.\u00a0 I now say yes it is possible to remarry.\u00a0 But understand if you are abandoning someone for another, that is clearly unbiblical and will not find the blessing of God.\u00a0 The latitude comes for me is if you were the abandoned one, or maybe it was before salvation, or other reasons that may make it permissible.\u00a0 Yes I understand it indicates you should not marry but it is also clear you should not divorce, God is in the sin forgiving business.\u00a0 We should not lose sight of that!<\/p>\n
