Matthew chapter 20<\/p>\n
The first 16 verses give us insight to the grace of God.\u00a0 God can be generous to whom He deems to extend generosity.\u00a0 God does this without breaking the promises He has already offered to those that faithfully serve Him.\u00a0 The workers did not refuse to work they just have not been hired yet.\u00a0 A man saved on his death bed will experience the glory and splendor of heaven just as those who have been redeemed for years.\u00a0 This does not cancel out the rewards as described in chapter 19 where they receive an apostles\u2019 reward.\u00a0 The fullness is for all who believe by placing their trust in Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n
Matthew almost just inserts the instructions of Jesus\u2019 death, burial and resurrection in the next verses.\u00a0 I think at this time in Matthew\u2019s life he heard these words but he did not comprehend them, now as he writes these words they are glorious and convicting to him.<\/p>\n
How can we be great?\u00a0 How can we acquire the best seat in the Kingdom of God?\u00a0 It is not by being great in our own eyes but by making ourselves servants to all.\u00a0 Verses 26-28 calls us to serve, to be a servant and ultimately a slave to those around us.\u00a0 To give ourselves away to others as Jesus was willing to die and give up everything for us.\u00a0 Jesus surrendered the greatest power, the most authority, and the perfect life for us.\u00a0 We have no power to redeem ourselves, nor the authority to do so because of our sinfulness.<\/p>\n
Are you willing to humble yourself as a servant?\u00a0 Really, is it humbling ourselves or just seeing who we really are in the light of God\u2019s Word?<\/p>\n
