{"id":6865,"date":"2020-09-03T05:03:49","date_gmt":"2020-09-03T10:03:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mbcnewhaven.com\/wp\/?p=6865"},"modified":"2020-09-02T06:35:04","modified_gmt":"2020-09-02T11:35:04","slug":"1-timothy-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mbcnewhaven.com\/?p=6865","title":{"rendered":"1 Timothy 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"chapter-1\"><span class=\"text 1Tim-2-1\">First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people,<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Most Christians find it easy to pray for their family, friends, and loved ones, but it should not end there. We should also pray for our <i>enemies<\/i> and for those with whom we have conflict. We should pray for those who annoy us, and for those who seem to be against us. Each of these fall into the category of all men.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"chapter-1\"><span id=\"en-ESV-29702\" class=\"text 1Tim-2-2\"><sup class=\"versenum\">2&nbsp;<\/sup>for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.<\/span> <span id=\"en-ESV-29703\" class=\"text 1Tim-2-3\"><sup class=\"versenum\">3&nbsp;<\/sup>This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior,<\/span> <span id=\"en-ESV-29704\" class=\"text 1Tim-2-4\"><sup class=\"versenum\">4&nbsp;<\/sup>who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>God\u2019s desire for all men to be saved is conditioned by His desire to have a genuine response from human beings. He won\u2019t fulfill His desire to save all men at the expense of making men robots that worship Him from simply being programmed to do so.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"chapter-1\"><span id=\"en-ESV-29705\" class=\"text 1Tim-2-5\"><sup class=\"versenum\">5&nbsp;<\/sup>For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man<sup class=\"footnote\" style=\"font-size: 0.625em; line-height: normal; position: relative; vertical-align: text-top; top: auto; display: inline;\" data-fn=\"#fen-ESV-29705a\" data-link=\"[<a href=&quot;#fen-ESV-29705a&quot; title=&quot;See footnote a&quot;>a<\/a>]&#8221;>[<a title=\"See footnote a\" href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=1+Timothy+2&amp;version=ESV#fen-ESV-29705a\">a<\/a>]<\/sup> Christ Jesus,<\/span> <span id=\"en-ESV-29706\" class=\"text 1Tim-2-6\"><sup class=\"versenum\">6&nbsp;<\/sup>who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time.<\/span> <span id=\"en-ESV-29707\" class=\"text 1Tim-2-7\"><sup class=\"versenum\">7&nbsp;<\/sup>For this I was appointed a preacher and an apostle (I am telling the truth, I am not lying), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>In the modern world most people think that any road leads to God, if followed sincerely or with a good heart. The Bible argues against this idea. Doesn&#8217;t matter of all the great things we have done or all the money we have made it only matters if your heart has been given to Christ and trusted Him when he dies on the cross for our sins.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-ESV-29708\" class=\"text 1Tim-2-8\"><sup class=\"versenum\">8&nbsp;<\/sup>I desire then that in every place the men should pray, lifting holy hands without anger or quarreling;<\/span><span id=\"en-ESV-29709\" class=\"text 1Tim-2-9\"><sup class=\"versenum\">9&nbsp;<\/sup>likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire,<\/span> <span id=\"en-ESV-29710\" class=\"text 1Tim-2-10\"><sup class=\"versenum\">10&nbsp;<\/sup>but with what is proper for women who profess godliness\u2014with good works.<\/span> <span id=\"en-ESV-29711\" class=\"text 1Tim-2-11\"><sup class=\"versenum\">11&nbsp;<\/sup>Let a woman learn quietly with all submissiveness.<\/span> <span id=\"en-ESV-29712\" class=\"text 1Tim-2-12\"><sup class=\"versenum\">12&nbsp;<\/sup>I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet.<\/span> <span id=\"en-ESV-29713\" class=\"text 1Tim-2-13\"><sup class=\"versenum\">13&nbsp;<\/sup>For Adam was formed first, then Eve;<\/span> <span id=\"en-ESV-29714\" class=\"text 1Tim-2-14\"><sup class=\"versenum\">14&nbsp;<\/sup>and Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and became a transgressor.<\/span> <span id=\"en-ESV-29715\" class=\"text 1Tim-2-15\"><sup class=\"versenum\">15&nbsp;<\/sup>Yet she will be saved through childbearing\u2014if they continue in faith and love and holiness, with self-control.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Both Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, and Eve clearly sinned first. Yet, the Bible never blames Eve for the fall of the human race, but always blames Adam (<i>through one man sin entered the world<\/i>, <a class=\"BLBST_a\" href=\"https:\/\/www.blueletterbible.org\/search\/preSearch.cfm?Criteria=Romans+5.12&amp;t=NKJV\" target=\"BLB_NW\" rel=\"NKJV.Romans.5.12 noopener noreferrer\">Romans 5:12<\/a>). Adam is responsible because of there was a difference of authority. Adam had an authority Eve did not have; therefore he also had a <i>responsibility<\/i> Eve did not have.
