4\u00a0<\/strong>I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus,\u00a0who is to judge the living and the dead, and by\u00a0his appearing and his kingdom:\u00a02\u00a0<\/sup>preach the word; be ready in season and out of season;\u00a0reprove, rebuke, and\u00a0exhort, with complete patience and teaching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paul\u2019s emphasis on the word of God has been constant.\u00a0 HE WANTS US TO SHARE THE WORD OF GOD IN CONTEXT. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00a03\u00a0<\/sup>For the time is coming when people will not endure\u00a0sound[a<\/a>]<\/sup>\u00a0teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions,\u00a04\u00a0<\/sup>and\u00a0will turn away from listening to the truth and\u00a0wander off into myths.\u00a05\u00a0<\/sup>As for you,\u00a0always be sober-minded,\u00a0endure suffering, do the work of\u00a0an evangelist,\u00a0fulfill your ministry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6\u00a0<\/sup>For\u00a0I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my\u00a0departure has come.\u00a07\u00a0<\/sup>I have fought the good fight,\u00a0I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.\u00a08\u00a0<\/sup>Henceforth there is\u00a0laid up for me\u00a0the crown of righteousness, which the Lord,\u00a0the righteous judge, will award to me on\u00a0that day, and not only to me but also to all\u00a0who have loved his appearing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paul knew there was a crown waiting for him in heaven, and he was ready to receive it. He was certain of it. Are we at this point? Have we done enough for the kingdom? Have you done everything you can to honor the lord and preach the word of God to the lost in the past few years? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

9\u00a0<\/sup>Do your best to come to me soon.\u00a010\u00a0<\/sup>For\u00a0Demas,\u00a0in love with\u00a0this present world,\u00a0has deserted me and gone to Thessalonica. Crescens has gone to Galatia,[b<\/a>]<\/sup>\u00a0Titus to Dalmatia.\u00a011\u00a0<\/sup>Luke alone is with me. Get\u00a0Mark and bring him with you, for he is very useful to me for ministry.\u00a012\u00a0<\/sup>Tychicus I have sent to Ephesus.\u00a013\u00a0<\/sup>When you come, bring the cloak that I left with Carpus at Troas, also the books, and above all the parchments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paul was a man of God but he was not superhuman. He needed and wanted companionship. Paul was lonely.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

14\u00a0<\/sup>Alexander the coppersmith did me great harm;\u00a0the Lord will repay him according to his deeds.\u00a015\u00a0<\/sup>Beware of him yourself, for he strongly opposed our message.\u00a016\u00a0<\/sup>At my first defense no one came to stand by me, but all deserted me.\u00a0May it not be charged against them!\u00a017\u00a0<\/sup>But\u00a0the Lord stood by me and\u00a0strengthened me, so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed and\u00a0all the Gentiles might hear it. So\u00a0I was rescued\u00a0from the lion’s mouth.\u00a018\u00a0<\/sup>The Lord will rescue me from every evil deed and bring me safely into his heavenly kingdom.\u00a0To him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

in his parting words, Paul\u2019s heart was for the people he knew. He thought about others and not himself. Paul knew the nature of Jesus and was an others-centered person just as Jesus was.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
