{"id":7253,"date":"2020-10-27T19:50:36","date_gmt":"2020-10-28T00:50:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mbcnewhaven.com\/wp\/?p=7253"},"modified":"2020-10-27T19:50:40","modified_gmt":"2020-10-28T00:50:40","slug":"1-john-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mbcnewhaven.com\/?p=7253","title":{"rendered":"1 John 1"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>1\u00a0<\/strong>That which was\u00a0from the beginning,\u00a0which we have heard,\u00a0which we have seen with our eyes,\u00a0which we looked upon and\u00a0have touched with our hands, concerning the word of life\u2014\u00a0<sup>2\u00a0<\/sup>the life\u00a0was made manifest, and we have seen it, and\u00a0testify to it and proclaim to you the eternal life,\u00a0which was with the Father and\u00a0was made manifest to us\u2014\u00a0<sup>3\u00a0<\/sup>that which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed\u00a0our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ.\u00a0<sup>4\u00a0<\/sup>And we are writing these things so\u00a0that our joy may be complete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can enjoy this fellowship even though you do not understand all the intricacies of the trinity. You can use your eyes even though you don\u2019t know every detail of how your vision works. You can know God and believe in Him as He has revealed Himself, even though you can\u2019t understand everything about His person or nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Walking in the Light<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>5\u00a0<\/sup>This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that\u00a0God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.\u00a0<sup>6\u00a0<\/sup>If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and\u00a0do not practice the truth.\u00a0<sup>7\u00a0<\/sup>But\u00a0if we walk in the light,\u00a0as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and\u00a0the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a claim to authority. John isn\u2019t making this up; these are not his own personal opinions or ideas about God.
