5\u00a0<\/strong>Then I saw in the right hand of him who was seated on the throne\u00a0(A<\/a>)<\/sup>a scroll written within and on the back,\u00a0(B<\/a>)<\/sup>sealed with seven seals.\u00a02\u00a0<\/sup>And\u00a0(C<\/a>)<\/sup>I saw a mighty angel proclaiming with a loud voice, \u201cWho is worthy to open the scroll and break its seals?\u201d\u00a03\u00a0<\/sup>And no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll or to look into it,\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The focus of Revelation 4 was\u00a0the throne. Here, John begins with reference to the throne, but now shifted his focus to the\u00a0scroll\u00a0held by the enthroned Lord.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4\u00a0<\/sup>and I began to weep loudly because no one was found worthy to open the scroll or to look into it.\u00a05\u00a0<\/sup>And one of the elders said to me, \u201cWeep no more; behold,\u00a0(D<\/a>)<\/sup>the Lion\u00a0(E<\/a>)<\/sup>of the tribe of Judah,\u00a0(F<\/a>)<\/sup>the Root of David, has conquered, so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To look upon the scroll, one must have the right to open the scroll and possess it \u2013 and no creature\u00a0was found worthy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6 <\/sup>And between the throne and the four living creatures and among the elders I saw (G<\/a>)<\/sup>a Lamb standing, as though it had been slain, with seven horns and with (H<\/a>)<\/sup>seven eyes, which are (I<\/a>)<\/sup>the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth. 7 <\/sup>And he went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who was seated on the throne. 8 <\/sup>And when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders (J<\/a>)<\/sup>fell down before the Lamb, (K<\/a>)<\/sup>each holding a harp, and (L<\/a>)<\/sup>golden bowls full of incense, (M<\/a>)<\/sup>which are the prayers of the saints. 9 <\/sup>And they sang (N<\/a>)<\/sup>a new song, saying,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWorthy are you to take the scroll
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and to open its seals,
for\u00a0(O<\/a>)<\/sup>you were slain, and by your blood\u00a0(P<\/a>)<\/sup>you ransomed people for God
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0from\u00a0(Q<\/a>)<\/sup>every tribe and language and people and nation,
10\u00a0<\/sup>and you have made them\u00a0(R<\/a>)<\/sup>a kingdom and priests to our God,
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and they shall reign on the earth.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhen a fellow comes forward in all sorts of curious garments, and says he is a priest, the poorest child of God may say, \u2018Stand away, and don\u2019t interfere with my office: I am a priest; I know not what you may be. You surely must be a priest of Baal, for the only mention of the word vestments in Scripture is in connection with the temple of Baal.\u2019 The priesthood belongs to all the saints.\u201d (Spurgeon)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

11 <\/sup>Then I looked, and I heard around the throne and the living creatures and the elders the voice of many angels, numbering (S<\/a>)<\/sup>myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, 12 <\/sup>saying with a loud voice, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

(T<\/a>)<\/sup>\u201cWorthy is the Lamb who was slain,
to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might
and honor and glory and blessing!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

13 <\/sup>And I heard (U<\/a>)<\/sup>every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTo him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb
be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

14\u00a0<\/sup>And the four living creatures\u00a0(V<\/a>)<\/sup>said, \u201cAmen!\u201d and the elders\u00a0(W<\/a>)<\/sup>fell down and worshiped.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDepend upon it, my hearer, you never will go to heaven unless you are prepared to worship Jesus Christ as God. They are all doing it there: you will have to come to it, and if you entertain the notion that he is a mere man, or that he is anything less than God, I am afraid you will have to begin at the beginning and learn what true religion means. You have a poor foundation to rest upon.
