22\u00a0<\/strong>Then the angel[a<\/a>]<\/sup>\u00a0showed me\u00a0the river of\u00a0the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb\u00a02\u00a0<\/sup>through the middle of\u00a0the street of the city;\u00a0also, on either side of the river,\u00a0the tree of life[b<\/a>]<\/sup>\u00a0with its twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit each month. The leaves of the tree were\u00a0for the healing of the nations.\u00a03\u00a0<\/sup>No longer will there be anything accursed, but\u00a0the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and\u00a0his servants will worship him.\u00a04\u00a0<\/sup>They will see his face, and\u00a0his name will be on their foreheads.\u00a05\u00a0<\/sup>And\u00a0night will be no more. They will need no light of lamp\u00a0or sun, for\u00a0the Lord God will be their light, and\u00a0they will reign forever and ever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Others see that the word\u00a0tree\u00a0as a collective reference, speaks of rows of trees that stand on either side of the river. \u201cThe picture presented to the mind\u2019s eye would appear to be that of a wide street, with a river flowing down the center, like some of the broader canals of Holland, with trees growing on either side, all of them of the same kind, all called the tree of life. I do not know how we can make the figure out in any other way.\u201d (Spurgeon)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We will see Jesus clearly because sin is done away with.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jesus Is Coming<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

6 <\/sup>And he said to me, \u201cThese words are trustworthy and true. And the Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, has sent his angel to show his servants what must soon take place.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7 <\/sup>\u201cAnd behold, I am coming soon. Blessed is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

8 <\/sup>I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. And when I heard and saw them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who showed them to me, 9 <\/sup>but he said to me, \u201cYou must not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers the prophets, and with those who keep the words of this book. Worship God.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

10\u00a0<\/sup>And he said to me,\u00a0\u201cDo not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is near.\u00a011\u00a0<\/sup>Let the evildoer still do evil, and the filthy still be filthy, and the righteous still do right, and the holy still be holy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The thought here is probably \u201csince Jesus is coming so suddenly, there won\u2019t be time for change.\u201d There will be no time for last minute repentance, but there is time now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

12\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cBehold,\u00a0I am coming soon,\u00a0bringing my recompense with me,\u00a0to repay each one for what he has done.\u00a013\u00a0<\/sup>I am the Alpha and the Omega,\u00a0the first and the last,\u00a0the beginning and the end.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

14 <\/sup>Blessed are those who wash their robes,[c<\/a>]<\/sup> so that they may have the right to the tree of life and that they may enter the city by the gates. 15 <\/sup>Outside are the dogs and sorcerers and the sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

16 <\/sup>\u201cI, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify to you about these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

17\u00a0<\/sup>The Spirit and\u00a0the Bride say, \u201cCome.\u201d And let the one who hears say, \u201cCome.\u201d And\u00a0let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the\u00a0water of life without price.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So how do you know if God has worked in your heart? Go through a little checklist. Have you heard? Are you thirsty for God and eternal life? Do you want Him?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

18 <\/sup>I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book, 19 <\/sup>and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

20 <\/sup>He who testifies to these things says, \u201cSurely I am coming soon.\u201d Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

21\u00a0<\/sup>The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all.[d<\/a>]<\/sup>\u00a0Amen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
