I received this story from Dr Jeremiah’s morning devotion.<\/span><\/p>\n

The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul.<\/span><\/i><\/em>
\n<\/span><\/i>Psalm 19:7<\/span><\/b><\/strong>
\nOne day\u00a0John\u00a0Strait\u00a0(father of singer\u00a0George\u00a0Strait) distributed Gideon Bibles in a prison in\u00a0Dilley,\u00a0Texas. A prisoner accepted one, but later when another worker, Jerry Horn of\u00a0San Antonio, visited, the inmate needed another copy. The pages were all gone from the old one; only the covers remained. “What happened?” Jerry asked. The prisoner replied, “I used them to make cigarettes.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Jerry brought him a new copy and witnessed to him. The prisoner received the Lord as Savior and signed his name in the book, indicating his decision. After getting out of prison, he went to school and became pastor of a\u00a0Texas\u00a0church. “He had a new Bible, a new life, and a new way of living,” said Jerry.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

My prayer is that we will use the Word to convert our soul, to transform our minds and to live with the mind of God.\u00a0\u00a0Tomorrow\u00a0we encourage everyone to start reading through the book of John in January.\u00a0 Just read one chapter a day, thinking about what you are taking in and asking the Spirit of God to speak to your heart and mind.\u00a0 May this journey together be empowering to our church as we desire to go deeper with God and see our friends, relatives and associates come to Christ and live for His glory.<\/span><\/p>\n
