John\u00a020:30\u00a0\u201cAnd many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 Some of what John is talking about is written in Matthew, Mark, and Luke.\u00a0\u00a0 Those three books are what we call the synoptic gospels.\u00a0 Synoptic means same, and those three books follow the same patterns of Jesus\u2019 life, where John takes a different route.\u00a0\u00a0 The other thing John may be referring to is how he ended the book, \u201cand there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one. \u00a0I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 We know Jesus did more than what God kept for us in the Bible.\u00a0 But what we have in the Bible is all we need.\u00a0 It would have been interesting to have a book by Joseph or some information on where he was at the end of Jesus\u2019 life.\u00a0 It would be cool to have a book of all the things Mary pondered in her heart.\u00a0 But what we have is the full canon of Scripture.\u00a0 These are the books God inspired and gave without error for our path in following Jesus.\u00a0 But yet we are still drawn as a bug is to a light to those \u201cwhat ifs\u201d of life.\u00a0 It is okay to wonder, but don\u2019t make any what ifs into what may have happened that distorts your view of what we have and know has happened.<\/p>\n
