Matthew chapter 17
Six days: “Mark 9:2, has the same number; but Luke says in Luke 9:28, after eight days. The reason for this difference seems to be the following: Matthew and Mark reckon the days from that mentioned in the preceding chapter, to that mentioned in this; Luke includes both days, as well as the six intermediate: hence, the one makes eight, the other six, without any contradiction. “ (Adam Clarks Notes)
The miracle of the transformation is such a special time between Jesus and His Father. This was such a special time for Peter, James and John. A glorious moment like this will be ours when we enter the throne room of heaven. I believe when we stand before heaven it will be a moment of complete surrender as we are stricken by His holiness.
Do you really believe and have a deep faith? A little faith can move a mountain and the apostles could not heal this individual. Jesus said this power is produced through prayer and fasting, the weakest two elements found in the church today. Why do we not have power? We do not desire a closer walk with Christ through prayer and fasting, it is just not that important to surrender and sacrifice for. Both of these are key elements to having a greater relationship with God. Faith comes also by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. Having a time with the Lord is more important than anything else. It should not be one and done but continual throughout our moments, hours, days and weeks. Church, we have the ability to power up!
Are you short on your tax money this past week? Go fishing and open the first fish’s mouth and find enough to pay the taxes. Taxes have been around as long as any city or organized people. Give what is due, but vote to change it if you’re upset.
