Are we willing to put our hearts on the line? Paul said they poured their hearts and soul into bringing the gospel of Jesus Christ to the people of Thessalonica. Are we moved emotionally for the people of New Haven and the area around our church? Do we see them in need of the gospel of Jesus Christ? Are we moved because without Jesus they will spend eternity in Hell? Paul said he worked night and day. Paul was a tent maker, a bi-vocational missionary while in Thessalonica. Paul did not want to take anything from the people; Paul wanted to invest the gospel of Christ into their lives. We need to pray that God breaks us for the people we see each and every day. Remember it is not information we want people to accept but a transformation that comes through surrendering and receiving Jesus Christ as Lord and as their savior.
Thessalonica received the burden for the people because they believed Paul’s writings and teachings to be the very word of God. When we receive God’s Word as truth we start to renew our thinking. When we believe the Word as truth, we see the condition of ourselves and those around us as a reality and the need for God’s grace becomes a blessing not a burden.
God’s Word is for us today and it is still truth spoken from the mouth of God for us to receive and to share. Pray for God to give you boldness to stand up and to live out His Word, but also to speak His Word to others.
God wants to work in our town as He did in these towns during Paul’s missionary trips. Are we willing to let the Holy Spirit work in us to reach those around us? God desires to use us!
