Jesus has the same problem that many of you do growing up and living in a small town. People think they know you, or they did know the “old you”. Note: Jesus never sinned or had an old nature, but they thought they knew Christ because they knew His family. One more note, Jesus had brothers and sisters, at least half brothers and sisters because Joseph was their true father and Mary was their mother. Yes, you being from here is a hindrance to sharing Christ, but if you will be honest it can be a blessing. Your testimony of being changed by Christ should be shared. Many of us will see souls saved when they identify with our past but connect fully to our forgiveness.
Jesus sent out His twelve two by two. I think this was a special power given to the apostles because Jesus notes throughout the gospel it was these twelve. However, there is a pattern in scripture of going out two by two. Even Paul took partners on his missionary trips. To help overcome the problem of living in a small town take someone with you to share the gospel of Christ. The important thing to remember is we must overcome our obstacles to sharing Christ death, burial, and resurrection because our relatives and friends will spend eternity in Hell without salvation.
God has done a work in you and wants to do a work in New Haven!
