The roller coaster life of the Apostle Peter is one we should learn from and implement his life lessons into our life. Peter verbally made a commitment to stand with Christ. Peter draws the sword and makes a commitment to fight with Christ. Peter also falls asleep and denies Christ three times. The key to staying on solid ground with Jesus is by living in the Spirit. In verse 37 we are told the Spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. In the book of Galatians we are told to walk in the Spirit and we will not fulfill the lust of the flesh. The way we should strive to stay in the Spirit is by first of all by being in God’s Word. We should also ask that God allow the Spirit to control our lives. All of us should be surrendered to the obedience of His Word and His Spirit. Thirdly, we should ask God to keep us from temptation as we live out our Church life.
There are daily times when we just need to say NO to our flesh and Satan, and draw ourselves closer and closer to God. If there is no battle in your life to live godly you have surrendered to just living in the flesh. If you have surrendered to the flesh and not to the Spirit you’re missing out on seeing the power of God work in your life for His glory. Battle on like Peter and let us see God do great things!
