EphesiansWe see in this chapter more of the same language concerning how we walk.  However, here Paul gives us a list of actions that are considered behaviors of darkness.  Darkness is where there is an absence of light, and these actions are considered sin.  By contrast the love of God and actions of righteousness are behaviors of light that every believer should live.

The chapter ends with how husbands and wives should live.  Our light should not be one only on display in the community, but a Christian life that is displayed within the home.  Marriage was designed to be a picture of our relationship with God.  The dissolving of the roles of men and women along with the lack of spiritual love, and godly leadership by husbands diminish our light of Christ.

The light of God will shine the brightest through our lives when we surrender to the structure God has set up.  When we move out of behaviors of darkness through the power of God’s Spirit, our light shines brighter as we reflect God’s glory.
