GenesisToday we find ourselves reading Genesis chapter 13.
Notice what Abram did when he left Egypt.  Abram went back to the last place he was close to God.  Abram went back to Bethel where he had built an altar.  Abram called unto God and found a restored relationship.  We again see God moving Abram and taking care of his needs.  We are so easily removed from the place where God wants us to be.  As God blessed, the relationship between Lot and Abram became stressed.  Some commentaries think Lot no longer looked up to Abram because of the way he behaved in Egypt.  Abram suggested that they separate and Lot chose to move towards Egypt, a symbol of the world, and Lot also pitched his tent towards the world.  What Lot saw in Egypt scared him because of their sin, but it also lured him because of his flesh.
We must stay in the land of God, at the altar of God, where we can enjoy fellowship with God.
