Being deceived is so destructive to one’s self-esteem and ability to trust.  The greatest problem is while you’re being deceived your perception is telling you all is okay, and everything is good.  The path leaves us unaware of its destination.  All road signs are removed that would give us hints to the pending doom.  The deceiver has made persuasive arguments.   The deceiver gives you short term happiness and pleasure hoping to draw you away from the ways of God.  God’s ways may not give us everything we want now, as far as pleasures for our flesh, but God’s ways will sustain us along the way and bring us joy at the end.

The other destructive element to being deceived is our failure which causes us not to trust any advice and to be fearful of all paths of life.  We then create an excuse oriented life.  We do have a real excuse, we have been deceived!  Wrong is still wrong no matter the manner we took to arrive there.  However this causes us to struggle to ask God for forgiveness so our journey can return to the path of God’s wisdom.  We do not seek forgiveness and we second guest people’s motives and desires to help.

You can be freed and grow in Christ!  You are not the only one who has been deceived by the great deceiver.  God lovingly calls us back and He will forgive us.  The path is calling…will you return?
