Is God convicting you as He is me?  This is some amazing wisdom from God that is still very valuable for where we live today.

We go from finances to adultery in this chapter.  These two things probably destroy more lives than anything else.  Both deal with the seven things that are an abomination to the Lord.  The phrase, “these six things the Lord hates, yes and seven are an abomination to Him,” is one to show the totality of disgust by the Lord.  Does it take you by surprise that there are qualities in our life that the Lord may hate?  It is hard for society to understand the great love of God for His people and the hate that develops because of God’s justice against sin.

Look at the list in verses 17-19:

A proud look, a lying tongue, violent people towards the innocent, a heart making evil plans, a person running to enjoy and participate in evil, a false witness- condemning someone falsely, and one who causes disunity.  WOW, we have much to ask the Spirit to do in our lives so we do not live in the flesh that desires these qualities.  The Holy Spirit strives to make you much for God’s glory.

I thank you Jesus for giving me your Spirit, and the power to live in your Spirit.  Thankful through Christ the chains of the flesh can be broken.
