Wisdom and knowledge are crying out to us to hear the truths of God.  Too bad we have become wise in our own eyes and cannot hear the truths of God.  We create our own truth and we convince ourselves that this will work out better than the voice of our eternal God.  It does sound strange when we put it that way doesn’t it?

Remember the fear of God is the beginning of knowledge and wisdom.  In verse 13 we are told what the fear of God looks like.  This fear begins with hating what God hates.  To align against what God has aligned Himself against.  To choose to be on God’s team.  Secondly it is to hate the evil or “the flesh” that is in us.  Pride and arrogance is how we ended up ignoring the call and voice of God.  We must surrender to God for salvation and continue to surrender daily to God so that we do not live in our flesh but obediently live in the Spirit.  The third thing in fearing God is to hate the evil way.  We are to hate the destructive ways of the world.  Many wonder why we hate sinners.  This is a false concept, we hate their ways, and the evil that sent them down that path.  Why? We hate this because we fear God and stand humbly in agreement with God.  We do this in part because sin in our culture will bring the wrath of God and move God’s blessings away from us as a people.  We do this also because we reverence God knowing that He is holy and just.  God deserves our surrender and praise because of who He is.

Our goal is found in verse 35 -“for whoever finds me finds life.  And obtains favor from the Lord.”

We love people, but we always love God first and foremost.
