Good news from a far country is like cold water to a weary soul, verse 25 tells us. Good news from God’s Kingdom is satisfying to our soul and this is exactly what God’s Word is. The far country is now our home and future kingdom. Knowing this should cause God’s Word to excite us as we learn to live for His kingdom today as we anticipate Christ coming to take us home. Throughout this chapter we are told not to seek our own glory and not to sit in the seat of honor until we are invited to. Don’t be self-glorified where you believe you should be treated special because of who you are. Let others extend to your glory and be gracious the way you receive their honor. For when we boast of our own, someone quickly sends us to a lower table and we become embarrassed. This also can help us evaluate the level of pride in our lives. Are you okay at the “lower” table?
Good news-we are of the royal family and one day God will bless us with a seat at His table.
