Paul describes a world in the first century AD that we are living in today. I saw that world played out on the news this morning. Mankind in some ways has gotten worse but the inherent problem is still the same, we want to be God and the center of the universe. This was the problem with Adam and Eve. Pride is our problem and the answer to our decade is to humbly surrender to God’s Holy Word. As Paul said we have a form of godliness but no power in Christ. Why? Because we are not surrendering to the knowledge of God found in God’s Word.
The causation of our situation is twofold: First, we are our own worst enemy and to tell ourselves no about anything is difficult. Self-discipline as a whole is missing and has been totally replaced by self-gratification. To help us we have created a banner that reads: God wants me happy, after all He is my Heavenly Father. We’ve missed the whole goal of bringing honor and glory to God and not the other way around. The second problem is the verse where Paul shares with us that all that live godly will suffer persecution. So the conclusion for the Christian life is, I don’t get what I want and others will be mad at me. Yes! The reward is that God will be glorified and His power will work and move in your life.
God does desire to bless us and work in us, but we cannot make it about us. The answer is to stand together and strong for God’s glory in God’s Word. Continue to grow by His Word and continue to stand on His Word. God will bless you beyond your understanding in ways we can only experience walking in His Word and His Spirit.
