letter-to-the-galatiansThe transformational work of the gospel is talked about in this chapter.  Salvation brings a crucifictional work in our lives.  Christ was crucified for us and we are crucified with Christ at salvation.  Paul said it is no longer him that lives but it is Christ that lives in him.  The battle is to understand the physical works that we should do after salvation, coupled with the spiritual work Christ is doing in us.  There are ways we should live because of Christ and salvation but there are no works we do that complete our salvation.  The Jews thought the Gentiles should be circumcised if they were truly saved.  Many today believe one must be baptized to complete the work of salvation.  Salvation stands on its own in and through Christ alone.  However, we do see for church membership they were saved first, then baptized, and after salvation and baptism they were added to the church.  It is not to belittle baptism, however it should never be added in as part of the work of salvation.  Above all it should never be neglected for it is commanded by God.

Christians should live in Christ but grace abounds even when we do not.  I pray you rest in Christ alone today for salvation and nothing but the blood of Christ is your security for salvation.  I also pray that you will live godly in Christ Jesus as a light in our dark world.
