Follow Jesus! To follow Jesus means to deny yourself. To follow Jesus means you pursue after the things of God. To live a life that is Christ centered and consumed by the things of His Word is a hard journey. Even with all the miracles of this chapter the disciples have a hard time casting out a demon. Then James and John want to bring down fire from heaven like Elijah did, not understanding the message of Christ. Do we understand what it means to follow Jesus? The resources that each of us have could reach the world for Christ. But we have a hard time being consumed with Christ and the work of God. We are consumed with good things, but sometimes we should say no to some good things for those that are even better. Christ is alive and He is not just the object of our salvation, but should be the object of our life. Allow Christ to live in you, through you and to be all that consumes you.
