This is another chapter that challenges our hearts regarding our surrender to follow the Lord. Treasures without being rich towards God is folly; however, if you are rich towards God and you’re blessed with treasures, life is good. As I said in a message a few weeks back, “If you robbed God to get what you got you’re not blessed, you’re a thief.” We have struggles with ‘should I have possessions or should my only possession be Christ.’ I do like the old saying, “you can have things but the things should never have you.” I like it but I do not think it is all that easy. The desire to have creates a desire to have more. Ask yourself, when will I have enough? Christ explains to us how we should be consumed with the Kingdom of God above everything, even our families. What if the Lord returned today? Where is your heart? Is our life consumed with the abundance of this world or the eternal life? One day, and it could be today, Jesus will return and there will not be any time to change. Do you believe God will be happy with your “bigger barns” or your eternal account? The road of being a follower of Christ is not an easy one, but it is one that is rewarded for all eternity.
