We are reading Luke chapter 13 today as we continue through this wonderful gospel. Sin is the problem and any sin causes death and separation from God. Jesus asks a question; “Do you think their sins are greater?” We always make ourselves feel better by comparing ourselves to one another. Jesus said we must repent of our sins in our life. Repenting is not saying “sorry”, but it is turning away from doing the sin and replacing that action with a righteous action for God’s glory. A saved person should have some godly fruit is what Christ goes on to say. Through repentance and receiving the Lord we are given life from the Spirit of God. A living person in Christ will bring fruit that glorifies God. As the chapter ends it talks about people not making it into heaven. These individuals ate with Jesus and spent time with the people of God. The key is repenting and allowing salvation to take. Are you a follower of Jesus? What are you holding on to that you know needs to go? Stop right there and don’t say; “We all have problems or habits or we all sin,” this is not what God said. He calls us to repent! We are called to a different life that goes against culture. We are called to a life that glorifies God.
