GenesisGod determines that Sodom was finished.  The grace of God which was taken for granted was over.  In verse 14 Lot tries to save the people, but because of his conduct, they did not accept Lot’s words.  Sometimes we become too much like the world and our message is weakened.  The angels were merciful and physically took Lot, his wife and daughters out of the city.  Lot’s wife looked back, being disobedient to the command of God, and was turned into a pillar of salt.

Culture has a way of gaining control in our lives and the things of God become overshadowed.  We still believe, but we do not live it out.  We do not attend church as much, or serve Christ with our gifts in the church He placed us.  We convince ourselves that we are being a witness, but the gospel message does not get presented.  Remember, this all started with Lot pitching his tent towards Sodom.  Sin calls by luring us through “window shopping”.  Before we know it we are in the store.  After a couple of visits we see something not so harmful and discounted so we buy in.  The world then becomes our home, our traditions, and we do not see the wickedness any more.

Much was lost by leaving Sodom.  Families were destroyed, or were they destroyed?  Or were they already in disrepair?  Can you leave the world and follow Jesus?
