The Bible tells it like it is, and at times we wish it did not state so much, and on other topics we wished it told us a little more. This chapter is one where you see much happening wrongly because of a rebellious heart. One is stubborn to force the marriage of the son and the son is stubborn not to consummate the marriage. We see Tamar taking matters in her own hands and playing the Harlot. Anytime we take matters away from God, and take them upon ourselves, we play the Harlot. We cheat on God and our covenant with our Savior. We must watch out for a rebellious spirit. The Bible said that a rebellious spirit is as the spirit of witchcraft. We must surrender our pride and our self-centered ways. Live for the purpose of loving God through obedience, and for the joy of bringing glory to God.
