Your sins shall find you out. This is a chapter of past sins. Re-read verses 21-24. Did you see the brothers immediately remembering their sins of selling Joseph into slavery? Sin will eat you up from the inside out! It has been 13 plus years that their sins took place and the second they are in an Egyptian’s prison their thoughts are of their sins. Sin is the cause of some sickness in our lives. In the book of James we are told to confess our sins one to another, and to pray one for another. You cannot find forgiveness without confession. You cannot just “move on” – the guilt and weight of your sin pushes down on you. Please hear this truth. A believer cannot live in sin, and feel the freedom that the Spirit of God desires to bring to our life. Confess it and forsake your sins today. Go to the ones you have wronged and make it right, this is part of confessing.
On the other hand in verse 9, Joseph remembers the dream. Live for God and allow His truths to ring in your hearts. It is much better to hear the voice of God say well done, than to allow sin to send discouragements to our hearts. Don’t forget God is faithful and just to forgive us of all our sins if we will confess.
