Joseph’s obedience made Egypt the power in the land. Money was useless without food. Land was useless without food. Livestock was given for food. Because Joseph was obedient before God they were prepared for the lean days. When you’re able, to save up money is not a bad thing. To have a savings account, and to say no to things today for tomorrow are good moves. We should never misuse or waste God’s resources. To save, and not give to God is robbery. But in this chapter we can see the importance of living under your budget, and to put money away for those possible lean days is good. Please understand most of the world cannot live in our world of having “extra money”. Our culture is unique and very blessed. Remember, it is always better to lay up treasures in Heaven than on the earth.
