Exodus-2After the death of the first born Egyptians, God leads the Children of Israel out of Egypt.  They were commanded to remember what God has done.  They were told to celebrate every year so that their children would remember what God has done.  They were also encouraged that God was going to give them a good land flowing with milk and honey.  So the people of God had to remember what God did, and what God has promised to do.

Why do we only celebrate our first birth, the natural birth?  Why don’t we celebrate our second birth?  The second birth is when God took us out of our Egypt, and placed us on a journey with Him.  Celebrating our new birth would be a powerful testimony for our children and extended family.  After all, that is when all things became new.  I am not saying don’t celebrate when God gave you life, but add a celebration of when God gave you new life.  Celebrate milestones that God has done in your life.  In the book of Revelation God had trouble with the church at Ephesus because they left their first love.  The remedy for this was to remember, and repent.  Spend time celebrating what God has done, and hold on to His promises as you look for what He will do.
