Exodus-2Most of us have seen some movies or war scenes where people have gotten caught in a minefield.  Some reading this may have realistically found themselves in harm’s way, and we thank you for your service.  A minefield works because of the fact that they are hidden from view.  The ground is made to look like it has not been disturbed.  The planter of the mines wants you to think your next step is as safe as your last step. They work because we become secure in our actions, and we forget to look to our lead Angel.  This chapter describes life as a minefield.  God is gracious enough to send an Angel.  God makes a statement pointing to the pre-incarnation of Christ in verse 21 “My name is in Him.”  His authority is in this messenger sent to lead the children of Israel.  We are given God’s Word, God’s Spirit, and the very Christ to lead us through the dangers hidden in life.  Obey Christ, and find victory is the simple message.  Serve Christ, and find a blessed life with physical necessities being met.  God will put fear in our enemies so that they will not come after us.  Each day we have victories simply because Christ kept us from a battle.  The enemy forfeited, and we scored another victory.

To walk with Christ should not be difficult.  It would not be difficult if it wasn’t for the pride of the flesh. Our flesh calls us to follow a different path thinking it will work out ok.  Do we want “OK”, or do we want the miraculous?  Do we want to narrowly escape the enemy, or find victory?  Every day we must deny ourselves, take up our cross and follow Jesus.  Christ goes before us.
