God is at work, not just healing physically but teaching and healing us spiritually and religiously.  God wants all of your ways and all of your life.

Verses 5-16 – Jesus really asked a man who was sick for 38 years if he wanted to be made whole.  The man answered how can I?  Here he is waiting for an angel to touch the water so he could jump in; Jesus said nothing about this pool.  But now after 38 years the healing stands before him.  Jesus than heals the man.  How wonderful for a condition of 38 years to be changed in a moment.  But, Instead of everyone being excited the Jews where mad because it was on the Sabbath day.   Two things hit me through this.  One, I tend to want Jesus to follow my way of thinking.  Sometimes Jesus works in another way and I analyze instead of celebrate.  Help me Lord to celebrate where you are at work!  Secondly, Jesus withdrew himself from all the others needing to be healed.  You know when this man got healed, outside the water by Jesus, everyone came running.  Why this man?  Why not everyone else?  We don’t know but we should be able to celebrate where we are and when God works in someone else.

Did you catch the admonition from Christ, “Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you”?   Jesus expects us to turn from our sins.  Why?  He lines out His authority in the following verses.

Verse 18 – Jesus teaches He is God and equal to God.  The trinity is taught throughout scripture, where God the Father, God the Son and God the Spirit are one God but in three persons.

We can spend weeks on the following verses where Jesus teaches.  But let me point out how we should honor God in Verse 23.  We should believe His words, verse 24. We should understand Jesus will judge, verse 27.  We should seek God’s will not our own, Verse 30. We should search the scriptures in verse 39.  The point is clear, God should be our life.  We do not just accept Christ for redemption and go back to living a normal life.  But our normal life becomes consumed with the power, grace, love and Word of God.

Keep reading; remember there will be time to catch up during the end of the month.  God is changing you as you become spiritually stronger through the eating of this spiritual food.
