The plan to bring our redemption is in place.  Jesus is ready and knows it is time.  Satan is ready and has filled Judas to be the betrayer of Christ.  Did you notice that God uses Satan as His tool?  Satan is not a god with a big G.  Satan is the prince and power of the air, a small god in this small part of the known universe.  But The God is in control and He is allowing Satan to move when He desires.  But the demons of hell are about to think they won, when in actuality they are about to finish themselves off by crucifying the Son of God.

Jesus then does something so humble as to wash the feet of His disciples.  Jesus did this as an example for us.  Never think you are more important than the person next to you.  Never forget everything you have is a gift from God, who is greater than all.  Always look for ways to help those around you.

This would be a good verse to memorize this week.  Verse 35, By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.  Being commanded to love one another is a hard concept.  Think of the worst person you know who knows the Lord.  I command you now to love them!  Now you love them right? Wrong.  Why?  Because, we understand part of loving someone is emotional.  Our culture has made it way too much about feelings and not about commitment to someone or something. When I am sold out and committed to God, the emotions of love may come and go, but my love for God stands strong.  We need to break free from living on emotions and place our lives on truth, commitment and total surrender to God.  People will take note when I love and demonstrate love to those I do not fully understand nor agree with.  Please also know loving each other is a God thing.  When we received Christ as our Savior we were indwelled by the Spirit and now we have the fruit to love.  Galatians 5:22 lists the bi-products of God’s fruit created by His Spirit, and the very first one is love.  When we walk with the Lord we walk with love for each other.  Ask God’s Spirit to take over today and create His ways as we fight off the flesh (Galatians 5:16,17).

We are in our third full week and we will finish the book of John Next Tuesday.  For the last 10 days we will look at passages in John a little deeper as we catch up in our reading and meditate on the gospel of John.

Keep Reading and share your thoughts and questions.
