Listening to a message last week on the value of God’s Word, the speaker gave this challenge to his congregation, and I make the same challenge with you. Spend 30 minutes per day in God’s Word. Make God’s Word in your life a priority. 30 minutes for 30 days will change your perspective and empower your Christian walk.
We go through three seasons of reading God’s Word. First we must be determined to read it. We read that in Joshua last week. They were commanded to meditate in it day and night. Yes it is work because our flesh, the non-spiritual part of us, does not want to take in God’s Word. But if you will be determine to do it for 30 days you will transform the way you approach God’s Word. This is the determination part of reading God’s Word, and it is work.
The second season is where you desire God’s Word. You cannot make it through your day without spending time in His Word, your Bible. The Spirit is now in more control of your life than the flesh.
The third season is delighting in God’s Word. You just rejoice in the things of God and God just speaks to you almost every time you open the pages. I want to stay in the place of delighting in God Word, but it is difficult because we battle against this old flesh that desires to take in fleshly things. Romans 7:22 “For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:”
What season are you in? Travel through the seasons of Bible reading and see how God speaks and uses you for His kingdom as His disciple. I guarantee the glory of God will shine and you will be amazed in how God uses you.
Today re-read portions of John chapter 1, and take in God’s truth, or catch up and spend time finishing the book of John. Regardless of where you are it’s okay. We are being transformed and changed by the true and living God. Spiritually eat up and allow your soul to be satisfied in Christ.
Tomorrow we will re-read John chapter 3, think about the very last verse and what that means.
Let us know if you have any questions or share your thoughts.
