“Sin no more”, these were the directions Christ gave to the man He just healed. Jesus told the man if He continued in sin, something worse may come upon him. Consequences for sin do exist.
Whatsoever a man sows, that shall he also reap. This is what scripture repeatedly points out. Consequences for our actions are real. You cannot live outside the will of God and expect God’s blessings.
Chastisement for sin does exist. (Hebrews 12:7-13) This is the correction of God. Not always a punishment, but maybe an informational lecture on what we should have done. Correction does not always need the assistance of a paddle, especially if God has already gotten your attention through the conviction of His Spirit.
Christ’ payment for sin does exist. Seeking forgiveness is always the option God wants us to seek. The most wonderful thing about God’s correction is to produce something better in us. God desires for His best to be brought out in our lives. I know the army saying is “Be all that you can be”, But God wants you to be all you can be by taking heed to His Word and ways. Don’t settle for second best, desire for God’s best.
Being in the scriptures will get us to that place, keep walking in His Word. The book of Galatians tells us if we walk in the Spirit we will not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
