The chapter starts with a call to avoid isolation.  According to verse 17 an inward view is always correct until someone else shares their thoughts.  Many meetings are hindered because of this situation.  The first one to speak obtains control unto someone has the courage to challenge or to share a different view.  This is why counseling for a couple is never productive with just one party; the other view is needed to obtain the big picture.  Always be open to arguments and different views; always filter it through God’s Word of truth.  We should be able to discuss while being friendly, right?  By being friendly you will obtain friends that will speak openly and honestly – see  verse 24.

I am always amazed at reality TV.  Do these people live in isolated bubbles?  Do they not really have one friend or even an enemy to say your view is wrong?  It is sad that we live in a society where no one’s views can be challenged or even discouraged.  Just because you think it, or even enjoy it, does not mean we should embrace it or celebrate it.
