PhilippiansWe are called to have a certain mindset.  Our mindset dictates our perspective and how we react to any given situation.  Our knowledge and upbringing determine our reactions to what happens in Ferguson, Iraq, or even in Church.  Have we allowed God to give us a new mind of love for one another, and a new mind of humility where we prefer each other?  Having the mind of Christ keeps us humble and willing to be obedient to God’s holy Word.  This mind also allows us to rejoice in the work of Christ knowing none of our works will be in vain.  Paul speaks of some in the church that are just looking out for their own ways and self-centered benefits.  Therefore, Paul sends leaders to help teach and guide the church in Philippi.  When we have the mind of Christ we accept authority and the teaching of those in leadership.  We know God has order and we fit in the body as Christ sees appropriate, and we accept our role.  The renewing of our minds must take place by God’s Word and Spirit as we surrender to Christ (Romans 12:1, 2).
