LukeToday we read about Christ’ death and burial.  We see that Jesus was innocent of all charges.  Herod and Pilate found Christ not guilty.  Then Jesus took the place of Barabbas.  They let the guilty go free so that Jesus could be crucified.  The just for the unjust!  This is a fitting picture for what Jesus the Lamb of God was doing to pay the debt for our sins.  Jesus died and shed His blood for the payment of our sins. Jesus was literally and spiritually taking upon Himself our real, eternally damming sins.  Read these verses as your personal punishment for all that you did wrong.  The beating, the nails and the death was supposed to be you.  But Jesus let you and I go free through faith.  Never let your salvation become a simple and casual thing that is passive.  This was amazing grace where the Son of God took your place.
