In our reading today we have seen Abram chosen by God. For the first time we see the phrase the “word of God”. God had spoken in the past but now after Abram’s encounter with the pre-incarnate Christ we see this phrase. Words are an interesting gift from God. Henry Morris said “The very purpose of language is that God might communicate His will to man and man might respond in praise to God. Since man was created for fellowship with God, and since fellowship requires communication, it is essential that the creator somehow speaks to man.”
God’s Word is good, it will not fade away nor be broken. God tells Abram that He will be his shield, God gives us a shield in Ephesians that we should use in our daily battle. God also tells Abram He will be His reward. God will take care of Abram. God will both protect and bless. God will take care of us. Trust and follow His Word and see if God can bless you. Trust His Word for choosing relationships, and see if God can do something better. Trust His Word in your money, and see if God can do better. Trust His Word as a guide to raise your children, and see if He can do better. As the chapter progresses, God confirms this relationship with a sacrifice. God confirmed our relationship with the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus. Live today as if you have this wonderful promise of God and experience His better way.
Have a great day living in the covenant of God’s Word, both written and living.
