In this chapter Sarah dies at the age of 127. Abraham wants to own land in which to bury Sarah and to have a family resting place. All of the people in the area wanted to allow Abraham to just have the property. They work out the deal in public before many witnesses. We need to make deals more in the open than in private. Today we have contracts and legal teams that put together our deals. Lawyers make a great deal of money today to keep everyone honest. The New Testament calls us to just let our yes’s be yes and our no’s be no. Simply put, we need to be open and fair about all our dealings in this world.
