Short sightedness causes problems. Not being able to see past a present situation towards a future goal hinders progress. The children of Israel did not like Aaron and Moses messing with their situation. Their situation did not get better, it got worse! Pharaoh made their day harder by increasing the work. Many cannot get out of debt or live with a little reserve because they don’t want the hurt of cutting back in order to have a little extra tomorrow. Sometimes, to get where God wants to take us, we will experience trouble and pain. Be assured it will take work. Nowhere are we promised a carefree walk, just an easy one if we are joined to Christ.
Notice at the beginning of the chapter that Pharaoh did not let them go because he did not know this God. Their ways and worship did not mean anything to him. The world does not understand our behavior because they do not know the one we seek to glorify. Maybe we are discouraged in the work because our relationship is not where it needs to be?
The work will be worth it in the end, and your relationship with God will determine your joy in the work.
